Meet Procedures

The meet officially starts at 9:00 am. Swimmers should arrive no later than 7:45 am to warm up with the team.

Before the Meet Starts:
First, each swimmer must find a coach and check in.

Once “checked-in”, each swimmer can write their event numbers on their hand. This helps them remember what events they are swimming in and what event number to listen for.

Your swimmer will report to their coach for warm-up instructions. Make sure they bring their goggles and swim cap.  It is very important for all swimmers to warm-up with the team, during the designated warm-up time.

After warm-up, each swimmer should go back to the area where their towels are until it is time for their event. At this time, swimmers need to pay attention to the event number being called.

During the Meet:
A swimmer should report to the blocks in plenty of time for the event with their cap and goggles. Girl’s events are odd-numbered and boy’s events are even-numbered. The swimmer will receive their heat and lane assignments from a coach or when the final heat sheet has been posted. This happens at least 15 minutes before the scheduled warm-up. During the meet a coach will announce within the team area when a particular event should report to the blocks. Swimmers are responsible for reporting to the blocks when instructed.

Dive Meet

Dive meets begin immediately after swim meets.

All Pool Meet

Our season concludes with the All Pool Meet during which each swimmer has the opportunity to compete against swimmers from all of the Narragansett Summer Swim League teams.

This is the largest meet of the season, where the top six finishers in each event receive a medal for their achievement. Additionally, the league awards the All Pool Meet Champion Team and Dual Meet Champions.
